Some thoughts:
The manga boys love is so endlessly tragic. I had forgotten that when I read it and unlike the tragedy in kano miyamoto's series the tragedy in boys love lacked that catharsis or cleansing of emotion that i think good angst has. Its still a great example of a lot of yaoi cliches.
Net comics was my favorite publisher last month. Not only did they have a good showing at yaoi con but I enjoyed ever manga they brought with them including some of the comedies they are releasing this month. I highly recommend getting Love Full of Scars it was hilarious. But any of the releases they had this month aren't the traditional pretty boy art styles. But if you want a taste of something different you really have to try it!
Yaoicon, there was only 1 actual dealer panel and it was DMPs. It was short but informative. There are picking up kizuna along with the tyrant series. So is this official proof drama queen is dead if they have lost their licensing? And they are really pushing their emanga service that allows you to rent/purchase manga on your computer that can only be viewed through their program. They licensed a bunch of harlequin manga for it and said some of the less popular/ experimental yaoi authors may go straight to emanga and only get a print version releases if enough emanga versions are sold to show interest. It was also said the reason close the last door 2 was pushed back in the release schedual is 1 just didn't sell well enough. Yugi yamada doesn't have the star power in America i guess. I think over all i was disappointed by that but i understand the business sense.
I met yayoi neko at con who is one of the few american yaoi bara artists I can think of. She is doing a simply amazing doujinshi based on sherlock holmes so if you like bara try to track her down.
S volume 4 is available for a premium price at akadot retail. So go now if you want to grab one of the few copies available for this out of print conclusion.
I'm thinking of doing postings of reviews on this months releases throughout the month. Is that something anyone would be interested in?
I'm also looking to hire someone who has at least an hour a month and is into yaoi anime to make a comprehensive list of the yaoi animes that are out in japan and an upcoming list, they would also have to keep a list up of the licensed yaoi animes currently available in English. I love how he teases Jayne, and OMG the ending. I'd totally beg for a sequel! Excerpt: "I just don't get it, is all." Jayne says. "Why anybody would want to be bossed around and--"
Simon turns, incredulous. "Are you honestly going to follow me to my bunk to ask me stupid questions?" He asks.
"Yup," Jayne says, and smiles.
Simon snarls and walks faster, but Jayne manages to catch up purely because he has ridiculously long legs. "You need a life or a dictionary," He says.
Jayne shoulders Simon aside, climbing down ahead of him into his bunk and settling on the bed. He looks at Simon with a raised eyebrow. "So why don't you explain to me, then?" He said. Author: esteefeeFandom: Stargate Atlantis Pairing: John/Rodney Rating: NC-17 Author's Summary: Because Rodney is a super-genius of the almost infinitely rare [as in, one instance in millions] variety, and because he is aware of the workings of the universe to a level that would make most theoretical physicists curl up and suck on their blankies, it comes as something of a surprise to him to discover he has missed something completely obvious.My thoughts: I love this! The style it's written in is interesting, in particular the bracket bits. It seems so Rodney, and it's so awesome that he's 'analyzing and storing data' of John. I love that John shows his geeky side to Rodney. <3 I also found the whole ZPM discovery interesting, and the sauna room! Totally cool. Overall a really good fic that'll really make you smile! Excerpt: "Mind telling me what this is about?" Sheppard says in more of a growl than usual. He's still sweaty from his workout, and is dressed in a tight T-shirt and track pants.
"In here," Rodney says. Now that the moment is almost upon him, he feels as calm as he ever is under crisis; which is—outwardly jittering but inwardly clean and focused.
The room is dark, but, as usual, as soon as Sheppard steps in, the walls and control console light up like it's Christmas in Who-ville.

Title: It Would Break This Heart of MineAuthor: cjmarloweFandom: Supernatural Pairing: Dean/Sam Rating: NC-17 Warning: Underage (Sam's 15) Author's Summary: When Sam and Dean weren't touching, it was like the other didn't even exist. My thoughts: Very interesting use of the Kink Bingo prompt ('silence')! Fandoms like these (with magic and such) can make for really interesting results. The idea in this fic is especially interesting! I could so easily imagine how it must have been for the boys. I certainly couldn't have handled the complete and utter silence (and knowing there was something out there). But the boys at least had each other, and I liked how the author wrote their relationship. I even liked the ending, because it was very fitting. Excerpt: Before long Sam tangled his leg with Dean's, and the solid contact relaxed him enough that he actually began to be able to pay attention to what he was reading. And hey, he hadn't known that particular Latin incantation, so at least he was making good use of his time.
It couldn't last, not with Sam as edgy as he was. Another hour and Sam was up out of his chair, stalking around the room and searching for something, anything, or maybe nothing at all. Maybe he just needed to prowl a little, knock a few books off a shelf and yell something that Dean couldn't lip read at them.
He went back to following Sam around the house until finally, after a late dinner that Dean threw together when his hunger grew strong enough to let Sam out of his sight for more than a minute at a time, they settled on Bobby's dusty couch with Sam's legs on his lap and Sam told him about his research until his hand started to cramp.
Sam crawled into bed with him again that night, and didn't even pretend he wasn't going to. Dean wrapped an arm around him and held on tight, all night long. | | |
